Multiple studies have shown that weighted blankets replicate deep touch pressure technology. This is also known as pressure stimulation.
This therapeutic technique has been used for years in medical care for children with anxiety, depression, ADHD or ASD. Obviously, it is also an aid for children with sleep problems such as sleep rhythm disorder (also called circadian rhythm disorder), restless leg syndrome or insomnia. Our study shows that weighted blankets cause your child to produce more serotonin and melatonin, lowering his/her cortisol levels. When cortisol in the body gets lower, blood pressure, heart rate and glucose levels also go down simultaneously.
A weighted blanket is similar to getting a hug, giving your child a sense of safety and security. It causes him/her to relax and thus experience less stress. It can help your son/daughter to fall asleep faster, but is equally helpful to sleep deeper and thus wake up less often during the night.
Hana© weighted blankets have been developed and tested in collaboration with professionals. As a result of this mutual dialogue, our blankets contain heat-conducting glass microbeads. It is often thought that a weighted blanket is very hot and you quickly start sweating once you lie under them. This is not the case with these glass micro-beads, which means they can serve your child all year round, even in the summer months. Besides the unique double diamond-shaped stitching, the glass micro beads also ensure that the weight is more evenly distributed over the entire duvet.
At Hana©, we are very much committed to providing good quality products. This gives us a number of advantages over competitors. For instance, our blankets consist of no less than 7 layers, a lot more than the usual 3 to 5 layers in the industry. Because we add two more polyester layers, our blankets last much longer without tearing. Another advantage is that you can wash our Hana© blankets in the washing machine, which is not the case with low-quality weighted blankets. On top of this, we use a loop system which, together with the double diamond stitching and glass micro beads, serves to distribute the weight well over the entire surface. Due to our good quality, we obtained an international OEKO tex 100 quality label. This allows us to guarantee you that our product does not contain any harmful substances.
It is best to buy a weighted duvet that fits your size (or at least to suit your body mass and mattress) and that is why you are in safe hands with Hana©! We offer different sizes of duvet (with cover) and weights for children and adults.
Below you can see a brief overview of children sizes:
- The smaller version is the one with a width of 90 cm and a length of 120 cm (90 x 120 cm), in which you have 2 different weights: 2-3 kg and 3.5-4.5 kg.
- We also sell a larger duvet + cover for children/their matress with a width of 100 cm and a length of 150 cm (100 x 150 cm), with 1 weight class: 4-5 kg.
We also help you determine sizes and weights in the scientific explanation of each specific product. To determine the weights, calculate 10% of your child's body weight and add 1 kg. If you are still in doubt between 2 weights, choose the one that weighs the least.
(In short: 10% of total body weight plus 1 kg.)
Ex: Your child weighs 20 kg: 20*10% = 2 kg -> 2+1 = Take the blanket of 2-3 kg.
It is very important to choose the right weight of blanket for children to get the hoped-for effect. The child should be able to remove the blanket itself if necessary, this is why the blanket should definitely not be used for children under 2 years old.
