OEKO-TEX 100
Oeko-Tex 100 is an international label created in 1992 for carpets and other textiles.

This label guarantees that the finished product does not contain any toxic substances. This label is interested in both synthetic and natural fibers.

The label is managed by the International Oeko-Tex Association, which also takes care of the controls. This association brings together 16 textile research institutes, including Centexbel, the technical and scientific center of the Belgian textile industry.

Environment

Oeko-Tex 100 is partly an eco-label. The finished product may not contain any pesticide residues or heavy metals such as lead or cadmium. There are also criteria for color stability and washfastness.

This label does not take into account the maximum emission standards in the air and water during the production of the textile. Genetically modified organisms are not prohibited. Harmful production processes are also not prohibited.

Oeko-Tex 100 does not take into account the origin of the textile and therefore makes no distinction between organic and non-organic fabrics.

Social

Oeko-Tex 100 is not a social label. This label does not take working conditions into account. Producers do not receive minimum prices or fair trade premiums for their products.

The checks are carried out independently on the basis of samples taken by members of the International Oeko-Tex Association.
